INTERMISSION*

A full service design agency specializing in interactive design

Take a break with Intermission*

Our new site is done! We’re super happy with it and we feel we were able represent what Intermission* is about with this design and functionality.

We worked on designs independently and after a lot of caffeine we ended up mashing our ideas together. We then stripped down the mock up, discussed the positives and negatives, and created what you see here. We realized the effectiveness of our processes and priorities in developing this site. Given our past experiences, its great to know that Intermission* is a seamless realization of ideals that we can integrate into each and every project we solve for our clients.

On the nerd end of things, there are some really cool things happening on our site. The transmission posts and work section both query our database using AJAX so it’s super responsive and the page loads quickly. The animations are javascript so they’ll work on mobile devices, and our single page presentation is functional and easy to navigate.

We couldn’t be prouder of the result and excited for the future of Intermission*. If you have any feedback on the site please give us a shout at i@secondintermission.com

about

Intermission* is a full-service design agency specializing in interactive design. We started Intermission* out of a need for simplicity and utility to break through the clutter of a dense and often confusing communications environment. We see our work as an intermission from the bombardment of information people are faced with in today’s consumer environment. We also see it as the bridge between great design and effective marketing. We take two simple cues from the work we create–smile often and speak clearly–what is your communication saying?

myke preuss

I like an intelligent and subtle order in the projects I create. If it’s web based I want it to load fast and respond to the user in an intuitive way. If it’s in print I want the aesthetic to be a simple, attractive reflection of the communication. Whatever the project, I want it to grow, change, and evolve naturally. I have experience creating engaging social networks, observing user patterns, designing both small and large scale websites, and optimizing monetization, SEO, and SEM.
I believe that effective communication lies in the melding of ideals. I take my influences from original movements and styles and then add my individual interpretation. I believe that a designer’s reference and starting point is every bit as important as their ability.

jodi day

My interest in the web started in 1994 when I was 13. My eighth grade computer teacher told me about a bunch of computers connected together through a network called the Internet. I started learning html that day, I was hand coding my first website by the end of that week. Things have changed since that eighth grade class, I’ve since graduated from the Electronic Media Design Program at Langara College and had the time to realize on a daily basis that there’s nothing I love more than what I do…on a daily basis. My time before Intermission* was spent in an interactive agency environment as well as working on diverse freelance projects in both print and online.
